How to choose all-season tires for winter?
Why choose all-season tires for winter driving? Because they are quiet. You don’t want to hear noise caused by studs in the interior of a new car. Quietness is the main advantage of all-season tires. But, when making a choice, it is important to differentiate between Northern and Central European tires.All-season tires are perfect, if you are driving only in the city; however, if you are also planning to drive on snowy and slippery highways and country roads, the advantages of all-season tires will become less important. On the other hand, a good all-season tire functions very well on wet and dry asphalt.
Another advantage of this tire is that you are less dependent on the seasonal change of tires. You decide when to install tires. When the temperature of the road surface starts to drop and you have all-season tires installed, you can rest assured that you are ready for winter.
You should also remember that if you travel further than Poland, you are not allowed to use studded tires, which is why you must have winter all-season tires installed.
Sometimes there is a car in the family that is seldom used. It’s a spare car which can have proper all-season tires fitted. If the weather conditions are bad and all-season tires won’t do, you don’t have to take that car on that day. Proper all-season tires are a good option for the car of the elderly – they can also save money on tire change.
On our website we feature the tires we have tested ourselves and which are therefore guaranteed to be suitable for our climate and road conditions. These tires are marked accordingly on our website. We also recommend planning your purchase before the season begins. This way you will have more time to make a decision and to receive your tires on time.

What should you know when buying all-season tires?
Why are some all-season tires so low-priced?
There are Central and Northern European all-season tires available which significantly vary in price and in the way they fit for our climate. Central European all-season tires are cheaper because they are designed for the roads of regions with warmer climate. The sales and production volume of the Northern European all-season tires is considerably smaller. Thus, their price range can be compared to the price of studded tires. We do not recommend installing Central European all-season tires for winter. This type of tire stops working at minus 7 to minus 10 degrees. The same all-season tires all year round?
If you do not use your car very often, you won’t have to change tires, but if you drive your car on a daily basis, we do not recommend using all-season winter tires in summer. Driving winter tyres in summer is slippery because their contact area is not as large as in summer tires. A car with Northern European all-season tires installed may even glide on the road in hot weather. The braking distance will extend as well. Driving winter tires in summer damages them because you use driving techniques suitable for summer. Worn out tires also produce more noise. How do tires wear out?
Tires wear out naturally, but not only. Storing tires in a warehouse has no effect on them. Tires which are in use wear out, for example, due to driving and hot weather. If you use all-season winter tires in summer, the tires will wear out more easily. In fact, the whole process of wearing out begins the moment a tire heats up for the first time during driving. Its chemical composition changes. The heat coming from the sun has the same effect. This is why it is not recommended to store tires outside, let alone in the direct sunlight.

When should you switch to summer tires?11.03.2026Every spring, drivers ask the same question: when is the right time to switch from winter tires to summer tires? The answer depends not only on the calendar. Both legal requirements and actual weather conditions play an important role. What Does the Law Say? In Estonia, the use of winter tires is mandatory from December 1 to March 1. Studded tires are allowed from October 1 to March 31. If weather conditions require it, studded tires may be used until April 30.This means that, according to the law, summer tires can technically be installed already at the beginning of March. However, in practice this is not always the most sensible decision. -
